Three Quarters

of a century. Years full of wonderful, sobering, incredible experiences. In the last months, I've learned more of some of those things Mum was a part of. What an amazing life she has had so far. But, today? Today, we celebrate Mom!
Mum got the proofs for her 6 page rhyming book dedicated to her sister, Marilyn, on Saturday. A wonderful gift for her 75th birthday.
Since Mum is on liquids for her birthday, we did a mini celebration with quiche and cake on Saturday. Obi was VERY interested in the cake.

Mum's birthday, March 26, shows break up is eminent. It isn't here yet, but there are signs it might be around the bend. The days are getting much longer (I am typing without lights on at 8pm and watching the sun sink into the tops of the trees!) and there is a modicum of warmth in the rays. It is still hovering around 20 degrees for most of the day, but that means there isn't much mud yet!

Mum had visitors and phone calls all weekend. These blessed persons were two of those who helped clean out mom's house. This was so she could be safer when we moved back home. Julie, Mum, and Leon.
Julie gave Mum a cute memorial. 75 pennies to commemorate her 75 years! Leon made her the card/poster at the very top.

A lovely day!

The sun setting on the Scout Park in Kenai.

I like  how one view of the sky shows a sunset and the other side the mountains are hovering on the edge of twilight. (I don't recall what time this was. Probably around 3:30)
In moments, the sky melted into magic. The layers were spectacular. Like a parfait for the soul.

 These next pictures are random.
I took it because I had pulled my hair back and when I looked in the mirror later, I discovered I had a fringe on top! However, it didn't show up in the photo. Oh, well!
One of mom's friends found this special wide recliner for mom to rest in. She sleeps so much better elevated.
Another of the friends who gives  over and over to help and encourage. Thank you so much, Mike.

Story Time 1

I am really behind on posts! I took these in the last days of September at Jim and Needra's house (well, not the first one! That was taken by Kari at mom's church.).
The home is perched between two lakes. Marie Lake and Bishop Lake. I have heard a family of swans has come out of hiding and I hope to pop over to see them before they migrate. Below is a view of the Nikiski Senior Center. It is available for all kinds of events and hosts games during the week.
 View of Lake Marie

This bird house is home to a squirrel! It sort of looks like a head mount!!! But, he was very much alive and alert to what I might be doing!

Bishop Lake in the sun. It is the bigger of the two lakes.
This is Needra and Jim's cat, Figaro the I can't remember how many. 4 or 5???? It has a sort of continuity to keep the name the same for every cat!
I love to hear Needra tell stories of when they were homesteading on the Kenai. She can always make her listeners laugh and sit amazed at some of the experiences she has had.
