Quail, rabbits, frogs, and Oliver (photos by Jonathan)

Jon almost always takes his camera to Grandma's house. If he doesn't, he'll see things to photograph!
There are many wild rabbit around. Night shots are not as easy as they might be.
It is inevitable you will capture the elusive were rabbit with photography. Bunnicula's eyes do turn yellow, in Wallace and Gromit's: Curse of the Were Rabbit, the rabbit was a giant creature who really was Wallace. FUN movie!!

Jon also found a very tiny frog in the yard here in town.  I wonder if the little thing is normally this small?

And then a couple of photos of Oliver. I called him Dandy Lion til his teen owners came to rescue him and gave him proper identification. I do hope he keeps away from the young robins. However, he and the neighbor Siamese are incredibly fond of climbing trees. Which is how Oliver got on top of the Little House in the back yard!

Flowers and cats and frogs and birds, oh my!

So many things in one post!!! First, Steve's thrilled his (actually mine, but I'm terrible with houseplants) African Violet has finally started blooming again. It hasn't bloomed in ages, just a lot of green leaves. You can text him to give him pointers if you have his cell number!

Jon got out his dad's birthday present. Moses wasn't as impressed as he was last year, mostly cuz he was alone in it!!

Mittens seemed to tolerate it for a while with her new two legger. .
Maxwell T. Silverstone, however, was in bliss. A breeze, a safe warm haven, and a human to purr on top of.
This annoyed me. Jon thought it was a bag hung up on a tree, it was gone a few days later. Whatever it was, it does not belong out there floating around.
Lovely lady bugs are everywhere.
This is the Lazuli Bunting Jon saw three of. All males waiting to stake out spots for a female. The girls are definitely going to be a lot more difficult to find, as usual, the guys are best dressed.

Saturday Jon went up to the Mountain Ranch. It snowed briefly, he saw numerous turkey and deer, and a lot of frogs.

On Sunday, Jon was doing something outside while hummingbirds visited the feeder. The Rufous was fighting with a Calliope! Thankfully, Jon got photos of them visiting at different times.

And now we've come to the end of April 2019's posts!!!!! I leave for Alaska in a couple of weeks, so a mixed bag of photos will be forthcoming.

April Camping

Sunset on the lower place. Stunning vistas of weather, color and DEER! Jon said he saw deer everywhere he turned.

Love spring over here in Eastern Oregon. Everything is colored in stunning shades of greens and up in the hills there are only a few flowers blooming. Next month, the  hills will explode with the other colors.

Jon was amused to find a previous camp site under water. This one was from a few years back when Tony was home. Jon was going to use the rocks for a new spot, but they were really slimy.
Jon did get stuck more than once. This was his 'first' mud run. Not too messy, just pretty wet.
Jon noticed there were frogs everywhere this trip. He recorded a short video of frogs peeping. It was so loud and there were so many, it sounded like one noise!! This frog looks like his black markings are a smile!

Jon really tried to pose some of these frogs. But, staging a frog shoot  needs cooperative frogs. Which, they weren't.
Here is Jon's Bronco on its last camping trip before Kodiak (the newer brown one) is released from the shop. Jon effectively buried the front end deep in the water and mud. Thankfully, Steve was able to release it from the murk in about 30 seconds. Which made everyone very happy!
