Arness Dock in October

Mum wanted to visit the beach today. Obi was just excited to go somewhere! It was very nice, almost warm, at Arness Dock. The tide was out a bit and the water was calm. A perfectly lovely hour next to the Inlet.

Obi has a thing about waves. He absolutely must bark at them. I reckon he doesn't like how they keep moving and he can't do a thing about it!
Mum was quite a ways down the beach. I stayed closer to the car.
Mum picked up lots of loot!!! Rocks of all kinds-Obi just barked.
Adding a picture of me. Steve made a comment that photographers don't often show up in photos, so I figured I should put one in.

This rock had a face. I'm not sure you can see it. I almost stepped on it and was a bit startled!

Jon's Alaska-Sunday

With the exception of the first two photos, Jon took the rest and shared them with his mum. What a nice kid!!!
Jon's car was upgraded and he went for it. I'm not entirely sure how we'll manage to get mum into it, but it appears her car will NOT get worked on this week, so we will not need it for mum's appointments.
Jon stopped on the way down from ANC a couple of times. It was raining and overcast, but he managed to get some pretty shots of the Inlet. He had a spot of trouble and missed the turn for the Sterling Hwy and ended up in Seward. He eventually reached the house. He was pretty tired since his Saturday started around 3.
Sunday morning, the lake was like glass. Jon went out in the kayak-he really needs a larger vessel, but enjoyed himself. It astounds me how I take photos of the same sorts of things and his are so different. (I wish Chris J was alive to see them, she always enjoyed seeing pictures of home...)

In the afternoon we went to both the Tesoro beach (Salamatof) and Arness Dock (Nikishka Beach).

His second journey onto the lake resulted in more stellar photos. I've tried to get the ducks in flight, this is not bad at all!

We ended the day by eating outside and later heading into Kenai for sustenance for a younger male palate. Actually, it wasn't much different from what I get mum and I! But, we are pretty much set for the week. I hope!

Beach Wedding!

Wi-Ne-Ma was the setting for Mark and Christy's wedding. It was so pretty! There had been some rain, but it finally stopped and was beautiful. As you can see, there was a nice sized crowd that gathered at the ocean's side. We were sitting in the 'balcony' section, so had a GREAT view of the whole show. (it was really a sand dune, but we were up higher and looked down on the group!)

Everyone came in according to tradition, and also, according to tradition, their flower girl stole the show! Many of us photographed her instead of the bride and groom!!

Mark and Christy tied their knot with a festive braid and the flower girl continued to cover and uncover the petals she sprinkled on the sand.
After the final vows and a kiss, we were off to the Jacob's for a crab, pig, and oyster feast. The cows were impressed with the festivities and also honored the couple!
