September Stuff

We have had some stunning weather this month. Lots of sunshine and stellar sunsets.

I've eaten salads and dinners outside, although many more meals have been in the hospital cafeteria.

There is a salmon outside the window of her hospital room, thankfully, most of the other animals around are less metallic in their makeup. .

Our fireweed is beautiful this fall. Normally, we see the leaves turn red and then the plants get ugly in the autumn rains. This year it has been dry, allowing the herb to keep the fire theme from flower to frost.
I had a chance to watch waterfowl on Bishop Lake and earlier the same evening, I saw beluga playing just off the mouth of the Kenai. (there is a beluga count this weekend. There are only about 300 in the Inlet now.)

In spite of moose season, there are any number of the creatures roaming around. I've been privileged to see cows with calves and even a young bull.
Our local forecasts have heralded a change in the weather starting this weekend. I reckon our summer is almost over and is about to reach an end. In hindsight, I can honestly say it was a season to remember. I wonder what is around the corner???

Photos of here and there

Most of these are sunsets. We've had some stunning ones the last few days! Some are growing things. Others might just be odd.
Baby Pushki.

Leech in the lake. I was a bit put out because where this leech was the ducks had been hanging out. I wasn't sure it was really a leech, because it appeared to have tiny legs. However, when I scooped it from the water (I was wearing gloves) the darn thing had babies! This was not the only one I found either. EWWWWWW.

More Arness Dock sunsets.

For some reason there are a LOT of mallards on the lake right now. There are also Golden Eyes and one Green  Winged Teal family.

She's already lost a couple of her babies. I hope this year at least one grows up to fly away. I'm really surprised they came back. The photo isn't very good because it was getting dark. I took this photo AFTER the two below.

I believe this is a two year old cow. She's been hanging out in mom's yard the last couple of days and she does not have a calf. I reckon she the one who was around last summer, too.

August On The Ranch!

Sometimes this really drives me nuts-the layout of this blog. But, I am going to let it be. Jon went up the ranch this last week and took some really neat pictures of the wildlife.

This is one of my favorite pairs. In this one, there is something hidden!

                                                    And here she is!

I liked this one, too-This buck is lopsided and is just LOOKING at Jon! Made me laugh!
This is  just foliage, but the stuff is stunning. Fall is on the way~
Another just trees and stuff, but I really liked how this one came out.
Jon actually DID see some wild horses up there, but we call this one, "Bronco, in repose."
Hawk over thistle..which isn't as cool as it appears....
COW!
These little specks are birds. Jon said they are tree swallows. I'm not so sure, the tails don't look right.
