So close!!!!

Things are so close!! We will move our stuff and many of the pets on Saturday..or Sunday. The carpet gets put in either tomorrow or Sat..prolly on Sat. The phone is working and our pastor was the very first one to call us! The internet is supposedly up, but as we have not moved the computer and stuff..we are not sure on that. We are working in the Eyrie (T's room), the trim for the Bear Den (J's room--he wants to call it something else!) is done and needs attached to the walls, and our bedroom is getting lovely. I should have used a white trim paint for the trim, but was using what we had. Mum sent a lovely blue gauze like material and I found a velvety like blue stuff in my fabric..I used the filmy stuff NOT for what mum thought I would. It is a swag over some other curtains and looks fabulous! S doesn't care for it..says it is too frilly. I told him it wasn't frilly, it was Grecian! So, he did a mimicry of the Grecian Urn from Music Man. I swatted him and he will just have to live with it! My closet under the stairs is really pretty and the addition is looking like a house. Fun, fun, fun!!!

Living room without the new carpet.

Mostly done shelves!!! I might paint the inside vertical edges, but I am not sure!
Part of the Eyrie closet..pun intended!!!
J's closet and the linen closet..J thought the whole thing was his closet!!! The odd spaces by the door is where the wider closet doors will be.
Reading Tamora Pierce's Protector of the Small series. Almost done.

Another short note.

Well, we are not in yet. The phone will be hooked up next week..and the computer. The rug will be in next week and I am almost done with the shelves in the wall. J and I worked on my closet under the stairs and it is rather pretty so far. We ran out of adhesive glue and the elmer's stuff I had is so nasty, we are going to wait to get the more spendy stuff. The bathroom is done and is very nice..there are some spots that need touched up. But, that is normal when you are working on things. I will post pictures later. The box has a roof on most of it, there is a leak, so we'll see what else needs done. J likes the box. It is perfect for his monster truck! Clean, big, and noisy.

AAAARRRGGG! I just heard a Christmas commercial!!!!! Not fair!!! Reading a book by Essie Summers..fun romance author.

Very stacatto note

The bathroom is NOT done..I am painting the door and I hope the rest will be finished soon. Lots of trim is up, S has had to adjust for the sheetrock, but it is working. The roof for the brown box will be here by Halloween and the rug for the living room still has not been ordered. The rug man is pretty busy and still has to measure the room. Not much else to share. Yet. >sigh<

It's getting closer!

So exciting! The addition is almost all done on the outside and we have done lots inside. Inside the house, that is. Let me explain with photos!

This is the big, brown box..with a few windows. The long vertical one is the bathroom window (it will be fine having a window there Jake!) and the smaller one next to it is for the 'toilet room' and will be above the sink by a whole lot. The tiny horizontal one is in our closet!
Inside we have the interior of a box. On one side is the door that we added and on the other is Jon's closet door behind the scaffolding. It is a pretty nice room. Dark, but nice. We need lights!

Once inside the house we have had some painting done. Mark, who owns and manages Mark's Custom Painting in Tillamook visited for a bit and helped us out. (THANK YOU!!!) Lately, I have been painting trim. I didn't like the first color for the dining room trim and changed it to Peanut Butter. We kept the original color for the living room and it matches the curtains rather nicely. We don't have trim for the living room ceiling yet, but will get there eventually. The windows in the living room need all the trim fixed and I have yet to paint it. S has to cut it for me still!
The laundry room has a loverly floor..one wall still needs covered as you can see! Isn't that paper just ducky????? And the bathroom is practically done, it should be finished this weekend! Woo Hoo!!!

Other than that, not much going on! LOL. Bought some Eoin Colfer books at the book fair today. Lots of fun!

More of our fall Medley

Well, S got his deer tonight. It is smaller, but deer season is over and we are very thankful. It is S's deer and J just finished it off...that is our story and we are sticking to it! (S is thinking to sell his rifle.......any takers?) I wasn't able to get as many photos of this deer as J had some unfinished homework that he needed some help with. But, J did take some great pictures up on the ranch.
And that is all for this part of October...things have frosted pretty hard. It was 21 degrees yesterday morning! So, the gardens are done and need composted. How sad. It was such a short summer compared to the coast...
Found some old Grace Livingston Hill books and am reading those now. FUN!

Deer Season, A Medley of Fall

OK, the first thing I need to note is that the camera is not working well..I have said this before, but it is very obvious in these photos. I don't have the ones S took up at the Mountain Ranch because his phone is not with me.
J got his deer today as a mentor hunter under Grandpa's tag. Grandpa can't really lift a gun anymore, so J did it for him. Part of the story-They saw the head and antlers of a deer. S shot and missed, J shot and got him. (He was interested to note that last year his deer was 10-7-07 and this year was 10-8-08.) Grandpa's comment was that J doesn't get too excited does he? S gets buck fever pretty bad, but J is actually quite calm. Which is why he got such a clean shot. It is a great story and you should hear it from one of the two sources. Three, counting Grandpa. It was one of the biggest white tails I have ever seen on the back of a truck..Grandpa said it will be a long time until J gets another one that size and he was proud to have given J the chance to shoot him.
As you can see, he has 3 sticky up points and when you include the eye guard and the other one, there are 5. So, if you talk to some persons, he got a 10 pointer...others will say it is 5. All in all, it is a pretty nice deer! Grandpa only gutted out half of it, S had to do the rest when they got home!

These are the gicky pix. On the second one you can see where J's shot went in and out the lungs.
(also note: it has a very thick coat of fat...it is going to be a cold winter!)

This guy was so large, S couldn't even get his hand around half of his neck! We are all pretty impressed with J, J is impressed, too!!! Thank you, God! Now, S needs to get a deer. We only hope its not a forked horn!

My Week in Weston

I mentioned to several people that I would post pix of the most amazing school in the world. I really don't know how many steps there are in these buildings, but a gazillion is probably not a small estimate! The school was built in like 1927 or so and the 'new' gym was built in 1964..it is still called the 'new' gym. It is three stories and I was told it held the Eastern Oregon University at one time ages ago. The first photo is from the steps outside the front door of the school.

The second one is going around the flag pole that is pictured in photo one. I finally learned that one side is for up and one side is for down..but not everyone pays attention to that rule! If it even IS a rule!

The third picture is at the landing in front of the flag and the last one is at the bottom of the hill where the buses park. The building nearest the fenced area is the shop and the yellowish building on the left is the old gym, the home ec (they still teach that!) area, and the band room. The 'new' gym is off to the right behind the trees and the cafeteria is on the left..you go down some steps to reach both areas.
Not reading much. I left my library book at the new house and can't find the book I want up here. Very sad.

House Minuet, by Hansell

OK, we got newer cabinets and this is their layout..inside the boxes.

Cleaning a lazy susan is a pain in the neck!!!!!!! And the cabinet in the middle of photo two..that doesn't fit! So, we will put it elsewhere. At least, we think so. The tiny space by the window will have a tallish spot to put flat pans. It has to be 18 inches deep as the lazy susan is not placed the proper way. If we put the lazy susan properly, the stove will be touching the wall near the chimney and I don't want the stove near a wall. It gets very dirty that way.

The following are pictures of the bathroom (old toilet, still) and my other scraping project.
Which is NO FUN at all.

Reading a Mercedes Lackey book...Finally found my Pern plus books!!!!!

more Round Up pix

Jake was nervous about the girls on the horses. So, here I have put my two photos together for her enjoyment...and the band members on horses (the entire band was riding!)....and last is one of the guys from the Umatilla Sheriff Dept with a tommy gun!!!!!! I was not able to get the Sasquatch. He was on a wagon with County Commish Bill Hansell. Seskie is also going on a tour to help celebrate Oregon being a state for 150 years and was interviewed, with Bill interpreting.

And that's it til I get the ice cream pix off of S's camera. Fun, fun, fun! More later!

Cementing the foundation and Roundup!

They did that all week. It was pretty wunnerful! Progress is being made! Here is our contracter and his help and the cement guy.

Then, THIS Saturday, 9-12, J was a part of the Pendleton Roundup Westward Ho! Parade. And then he worked at the Roundup grounds as a Scout and then, later, he and S, as a members of our church, made ice cream cones. He was a very busy boy!

J was a bit out of step, but it was his first parade!!!! The vests are Pendleton Wool and they had to have black dress pants, long sleeve white shirts, and they have the most awesome ties with zippers! It was 95 degrees.....

And for all you OSU fans, here is a Beaver pix. I could have taken photos of a coug float and a duck one, but this one was more colorful! They had a Eastern Oregon College one, too.

Am reading LM Alcott again.

What J did this weekend

Walla Walla had a car show. So, he took a gazillion pix with my phone! Gotta love technology! The bike was an electric one and the gray car was from a shop that S had looked into working at. However, it would have been more fun than bringing home any bacon!

I rather liked these two! Mostly for the colors!LOL.

But, this one was my favorite by far!
It had a sign asking people to touch it!
Gotta roll!
